Alyce and Robert farmed north of Shelby, Iowa, and Alyce taught at the Shelby Elementary School. Robert died on October 24, 1986, in Shelby. On September 1, 1990, Alyce married Willis Martin Myrtue in Harlan, Iowa; he died on September 29, 2000, in Harlan.
Alyce was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Harlan. She also held memberships in the Iowa Teachers Association and the Shelby American Legion Post #240 Auxiliary.
