David Paul Clark was born on August 31, 1956, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, to Gerald “Jerry” and Shirley (Lamere) Clark. He was the third of four children in the family. Dave grew up in Harlan, where he attended school and graduated with the Class of 1974.
Following high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy, receiving an honorable discharge in 1978 after four years of service.
Through mutual friends, Dave met Jill Richards, and the couple was united in marriage on June 11, 1983, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Jacksonville. Together they were blessed with two sons, Colin and Jeremy.
Over the years, Dave worked for HMU and later at REM in Shelby, a job he truly enjoyed. He was proud to be a Mason and a Shriner. Sports played an important role in his life—he was a longtime soccer referee and was instrumental in helping establish soccer at the local high school. He also had a love for wrestling.
Above all, Dave’s greatest joy was his family. His grandchildren—Jamison, Beckham, Harper, Quinn, and Hudson—were the light of his life. He loved being an active grandpa, cheering them on and attending all of their school and athletic events.
Dave passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at UNMC in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 69. He is survived by his family and friends.
