Floyd Arthur Campbell was born July 6, 1922 near Defiance, Iowa to James and Edith (Woods) Campbell. He attended Greeley number eight country school and graduated from the Irwin High School in 1939. Floyd farmed all his life while taking care of his parents. He also helped his uncle Milton measure all the farms in Greeley Township. Floyd took pride in the appearance of his farm.
Floyd died on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at the Myrtue Memorial Hospital in Harlan at the age of 89 years and 22 days.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Maurice, Ralph and Howard Campbell; one sister, Edythe Campbell. He is survived by many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 30, 2011, at the Burmeister-Johannsen Funeral Home in Harlan, Iowa, with Rev. Leila Blackburn of the Irwin United Methodist Church officiating. Marge Ahrenholtz served as the organist. Casket bearers were Robert Ahrenholtz, Lyle Campbell, Larry Campbell, Marvin Campbell, Norman Campbell, Vernon Campbell, and Darrell Johnson. Burial was in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Irwin, Iowa. The Burmeister-Johannsen Funeral Home in Harlan was in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be left online at www.burmeisterjohannsen.com.
