Galen William Boeck was born on December 30, 1964, the son of Hugo Dwain and Freda Maxine (Peterman) Boeck in Harlan, Iowa. He received his education at Harlan Community High School, graduating with the Class of 1983. He went on to attend Lincoln Technical Institute in Des Moines, where he earned his certification in mechanics.
In 1993, Galen married Cindi Burger, and together they were blessed with twin daughters, Emily and Jacquelyn. The family made their home in Council Bluffs before Galen and Cindi later divorced. In the years that followed, Galen shared a devoted and lasting companionship with Becky Hofer that spanned over 18 years. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter, first making their home in Underwood before settling in Council Bluffs. Galen and Becky cherished time spent with friends, often gathering for game nights and enjoying each other’s company in a close-knit circle of social connection.
For over ten years, Galen worked as a mechanic at Underwood Farm Supply. In his free time, Galen enjoyed playing pool and riding motorcycles. He was often found tinkering in his garage or searching for interesting collectibles.
Galen passed away on Friday, May 2, 2025, in Sioux City, Iowa at the age of 60 years, four months and two days. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Galen is survived by his daughters: Emily (Seth) Fineran of Harlan and Jacquelyn (Charles) Assman of Omaha, Nebraska; grandson, Atlas Fineran; granddaughter, Quinn Assman; siblings: Roger Boeck of Montana, Nancy (Ted) Bliesman of Denison, Karen Duncheon and Gail Heinz both of South Padre, Texas; and many other family members and friends.
