Kenneth Lee Andersen

Kenneth Lee Andersen was born on August 2, 1959, the son of Darwin and Karen (Cade) Andersen in Harlan, Iowa. He was baptized into the Baptist faith. He received his education from Harlan Community Schools and graduated with the class of 1978.

Immediately following his education, he enlisted into the United States Marines Corps and honorably served for six years. He traveled the world on various ships and the most memorable experiences were being on the open water and thinking about scripture when God opened the water for Moses and he felt a deep connection when visiting biblical places. He traveled to Spain, Italy, Egypt, Portugal, Scotland, Turkey and Africa.

Kenneth worked at Do It Best Hardware alongside his sister and brother-in-law for nine years. He then worked as the custodian at the AHSTW school system for over 18 years. Kenneth was a talented artist who loved drawing. He enjoyed watching movies and cherished spending time with family, especially fishing with his nephews.

Kenneth passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at the Atlantic Specialty Care in Atlantic, Iowa at the age of 64 years, five months and 11 days.

He is survived by his parents: Darwin and Karen Andersen of Harlan; two sisters, Teresa (Randy) Schnack of Oakland and Linda (Dave) Petersen of Harlan; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Private services will be held with the family.
