Mary Kruse

Mary Beth Kruse was born on September 1, 1970, to Lawrence and Lois (Wernimont) Kruse. She was baptized at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll and later graduated from Harlan High School.

Mary Beth was a proud shareholder at Concerned, Inc., where she formed many special friendships over the years. Some of her happiest moments were during music time, when the staff would push her wheelchair around the room so she could dance and celebrate alongside her friends.

Family meant everything to Mary Beth. She cherished gatherings and especially loved spending time with her nieces and nephew. Babies held a special place in her heart, and she delighted in every opportunity to be near them.

Mary Beth also enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. She loved being outdoors, taking shopping trips into the city, and watching the world around her. People-watching always brought a bright smile to her face. Her joyful spirit and love for others will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

Mary passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Myrtue Medical Center at the age of 55 years, five months and 25 days. She is preceded in death by her father and her grandparents: Ray and Grace Wernimont and Helen Kruse.

She is survived by her mother, Lois Kruse of Harlan; sister, Lynn Bissen of Harlan; nieces and nephew: Allison (Zach) Clemons, Meghan Bissen (Bill Brooks), Michaela Bissen and Ferris Bissen; her Concerned family; and other family members and friends.

Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, with visitation prior to her service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., all at the Heartland Funeral Home in Harlan. Interment will follow in the Harlan Cemetery. The family will direct memorials.
