Richard “Ric” Clarence Schneider, the son of Walter George and Doris Susan (Finken) Schneider, was born on June 11, 1951, in Harlan, Iowa. He attended St. Boniface Catholic School, Westphalia, Iowa, and Harlan Public Schools, Harlan, Iowa; he later earned his GED. On June 9, 1973, Ric married Janet Kay Lee at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Westphalia. Ric was employed as an automotive mechanic at Harlan Auto Mart for 18 years before working for eight years as a welder in Council Bluffs, Iowa. When younger, he enjoyed bowling and playing softball; he later took up golf and continued to play for many years. Ric liked to mow lawns and raise tomatoes. Time spent visiting with friends and family over a beer was special to Ric, and they appreciated his ability to fix tires. Recently, he had the joy and privilege of serving as his young granddaughter’s full time babysitter.

Richard “Ric” C. Schneider died on Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at the Salem Lutheran Home in Elk Horn, Iowa. He had reached the age of 66 years, 4 months, and 21 days.
