Sharon Loeffelholz

March 28, 1957 — June 5, 2025

Sharon Rae Loeffelholz was born on March 28, 1957, in Le Mars, Iowa, the third of four children of Francis and Mary (Wenzel) Loeffelholz. During her childhood, the family moved frequently due to her father’s career relocations, eventually settling near Minden, Iowa. Sharon attended Lewis Central Community High School in Council Bluffs and graduated with the Class of 1975. An avid participant in high school rodeo, she was also honored as the queen of the West Pottawattamie Saddle Club.

After graduating, Sharon began her career working at a bank. She also enjoyed connecting with others while waitressing at the Ember’s Restaurant in Avoca. Lastly, she spent over a decade at CDS Global.

Sharon married David Lee Wicker, and together they were blessed with four children: Justin, Amanda, David, and Aimee. The family lived in Hancock before Sharon and David later divorced. In the years that followed, she met Mark “Cubie” Poole, and the two shared a loving 20-year companionship.

A dedicated member of the Woodbine Saddle Club, Sharon served as co-treasurer for two years and was deeply passionate about horses. Her greatest joy came from time spent with her grandchildren, creating cherished memories and always putting family first. She was the heart and soul of her family, holding everyone together and reminding them of what truly mattered. Known for her kindness and generosity, Sharon would help anyone in any way she could. She never met a stranger and made everyone feel welcome.

Sharon passed away at her home surrounded by family on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at the age of 68 years, two months and eight days. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Daniel Loeffelholz and Victoria Huffman; and nephews: Joshua and Matthew Huffman.

Sharon is survived by her four children: Justin Wicker of Lucas, Amanda Wicker (Charles Hayes) of Harlan, David Wicker (Jenifer Miller) and Aimee (Kenny) Osler all of Council Bluffs; six grandchildren: Zsofia Wicker, Noah Osler, McCoy Wicker, Wyland Wicker, Gracelyn Osler and Joseph Hayes; sister, Patricia Wagner of Carroll; loving companion, Mark “Cubie” Poole of Harlan; nieces and nephews; and many other family members and friends.

Her family will hold her Celebration of Life at the Rodeo Grounds in Woodbine at a later date, which will be updated here when decided. Memorials may be directed to the family for a donation to be made in her name.
